Our suggestions on what to do & see in Clarens...

We are currently compiling our list of favourites - please feel free to send in your suggestions.

The village of Clarens is situated in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains in close proximity to the Golden Gate National Park and the mountain kingdom of Lesotho. Clarens is an Artists Haven with many well known artists either living in or frequenting the village on a regular basis with many art galleries scattered around the village square. The village has become know as the “Jewel of the Free State” - rich in beauty, with an aura of peace and tranquility.

Clarens Golf Course is a par 71 golf course, designed and constructed by Golf Data, is bound to excite every level of golfer. All 18 holes meander along and across the tranquil river and its splendid series of dams and cascading waterfalls.

Fly fishing is an attraction for visitors and a day ticket can be bought to fish the town dam and there are also day facilities available at Craigrossie and De Molen farm. Unfortunately no fishing is allowed at Klein Caledon due to the very delicate eco system.
